Used Super Asia washing machines in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Super Asia washing machine worth buying?
Super Asia builds in Gujranwala and its machines are the ones the local trade knows by sight rather than by code — a repair shop will sell you a motor, a timer or a lid switch by description alone. The first thing to establish is what you are actually looking at: SA-coded washers, some of them wash-only, and SD-coded spin dryers that are machines in their own right.
Made or assembled in Pakistan
Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.
Super Asia spares are the most widely stocked washing-machine parts in both cities, and most of them — motors, pulsators, timers, belts, lid switches, drain valves and rubber mounts — are bought loose by description rather than ordered against a model code. Motor rewinding is routine trade work here, which is why a burnt motor rarely finishes a machine off.

Checking a used Super Asia washing machine
These are specific to Super Asia. The general washing machines checks apply too and are on the washing machines page.
Read SA or SD
SA codes a washer and SD codes a spin dryer sold on its own, and several SA models wash only, with no spin side at all. The two look alike in photographs, so confirm the prefix before agreeing anything — a wash-only machine is half a set.
Load the spinner first
A spin dryer is judged loaded, never empty. Put a soaked towel in, close the lid and watch the cabinet: knocking or walking across the floor points at the rubber mounts under the basket, which is what wears on these and what makes them shake.
Lift the lid mid-spin
On the spin side of a washer and on a standalone SD alike, the basket must slow and stop when the lid comes up. A taped-down or jumped switch is the usual workaround when the switch fails, and it leaves the basket live while hiding the fault.
Check the moulded logo
Look for the logo moulded into the plastic as well as the stick-on badge, and check the plate carries a model in the SA or SD pattern. Lookalike machines borrow the styling of the popular local washers, and one a parts dealer cannot place by model is one whose spares may not fit.
What Super Asia washing machines are worth
- These are bought and repaired by description rather than by model code, so a buyer can price one without identifying it exactly, which keeps the market liquid and the gap between a good example and a poor one narrow.
- A rewound motor is ordinary here and does not scare buyers off the way a repaired board would, but it is worth less than an original winding, because a rewind is only as good as the shop that did it.
- Vibration is what actually loses money: once the rubber mounts under a spin basket have gone the machine walks across a wet floor and buyers back away, even though the mounts themselves are commodity parts.

General washing machines checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the washing machines page covers them in full.
Spin the empty drum
With the machine off, turn the drum through a full rotation by hand. It should move smoothly and quietly. A rumble, a grinding note or side-to-side play means worn drum bearings, and on most front loaders the tub has to come apart to reach them, which rarely makes sense on a used machine.
Run a cycle with water
Ask for a rinse-and-spin with the machine actually filling. Watch that it takes water at a reasonable rate, drains fully, and reaches full spin without walking across the floor. Slow filling is usually a clogged inlet filter; refusing to spin with a wet load is often a worn belt, coupler or motor.
Fold back the door seal
On a front loader, peel the rubber boot back all the way round. Black mould in the folds is cleanable. Tears, splits or a seal that has been patched with adhesive are not, and a compromised boot leaks onto the floor at every wash.
Test the spinner separately
On a semi-automatic, the spin tub has its own motor and a lid interlock. Load it with a wet cloth and run it. Heavy vibration, a screech at start-up, or a spinner that keeps turning with the lid open are all faults, and the last one is a safety problem rather than an inconvenience.
Open the pump filter
Undo the filter at the front and look at what comes out. Grit and hair are normal. A cracked filter housing, or a drain hose with a taped repair, tells you the machine has been leaking, and water stains under the base panel are worth more than any verbal assurance.
Step through the programmes
Select each programme and confirm the machine changes what it actually does, not just what the display shows. An error code that clears when the machine is unplugged and returns mid-cycle points at the control board, which is the second expensive repair after bearings.
