Sell your used Air Conditioners in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Who buys used air conditioners in Islamabad?

Used air conditioners move on a sharp seasonal cycle in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and a dealer buying for cash values a split by what its compressor and outdoor coil can still do rather than by the tonnage printed on the box. Inverter models, an intact installation kit, the original remote and a legible rating plate all count. A wall unit cannot be judged from photographs alone, so a running test decides the grade.

What we check on a used air conditioners

These are the checks that decide the grade — and the same ones worth running yourself before you accept any offer for your air conditioners.

Measure the temperature split

Run the unit for fifteen minutes, then compare the air being drawn into the indoor grille with the air leaving the vent. A healthy split is obvious to the hand and clear on a thermometer. A narrow gap after a full cycle usually points at low refrigerant or a tired compressor, and both are expensive.

Watch the outdoor unit start

Stand at the outdoor unit as the compressor kicks in. It should start within a couple of minutes and settle into a steady hum. Starting and stopping every few minutes, or a hard mechanical knock at start-up, is a compressor or capacitor symptom rather than a quirk of the model.

Look for oil at joints

Refrigerant carries compressor oil, so a leak leaves a dark, oily film at the flare nuts and along the copper. A unit that cools today with oily joints will need gas again, and a refill without a leak repair does not hold for long.

Confirm inverter behaviour

An inverter compressor should slow down once the room reaches the set temperature instead of switching off outright. If the outdoor unit only ever runs flat out and then stops dead, either the unit is not the inverter model it is described as, or its control board has stopped modulating.

Check the drain runs clear

After the unit has been running a while, water should leave the drain pipe steadily and nowhere else. No water at all suggests a blocked line, and damp on the wall below the indoor unit means the condensate has found another route out, which shows up later as staining and mould.

Test the remote and supply

Cycle cooling, fan speed, swing and temperature, and confirm the unit obeys each command rather than merely lighting up the display. A missing remote is common and replaceable; a unit that responds to only some commands points at the control board. Ask what supply it was run on as well, since a split wants its own circuit and an isolator, and a stabiliser with scorched terminals says the voltage it lived with was rough.

What raises the price of used air conditioners

  • An inverter unit holds value better than a fixed-speed one of the same tonnage, because a compressor that modulates instead of cycling on and off draws less across a long season of running hours.
  • A complete set counts: outdoor unit, indoor unit, original remote, mounting bracket and enough copper piping to reinstall are worth more together than a unit stripped of its kit.
  • Newer refrigerant types are easier to service than older R-22 systems, which are being phased out and are increasingly awkward to top up.
  • Clean, undamaged coil fins and an outdoor casing free of structural rust suggest the unit was serviced regularly, and that shows in the grade.
  • A unit recently regassed without the leak being traced is worth less than one that has simply held its charge, even though both cool on the day.

What makes an item For Parts rather than resale

  • A seized or short-cycling compressor puts the repair beyond what the unit is worth, so it grades as For Parts / Repair.
  • A refrigerant leak in the indoor coil itself, rather than at a joint, means replacing the coil and rarely makes commercial sense.
  • A burnt or water-damaged control board on an inverter model, where the board is no longer made for that line.
  • A casing or bracket rusted through to the point where the outdoor unit cannot be safely remounted.

Brands we see most

These are the air conditioners brands that come up most often in the Islamabad and Rawalpindi second-hand market. We trade others too — this is what typically turns up, not a list of what is in stock today.

Selling Air Conditioners — frequently asked questions

Is a used inverter AC worth buying over a used non-inverter one?

Usually yes, provided the board and compressor are healthy. An inverter compressor modulates instead of switching on and off, so it draws less across a long Rawalpindi summer. The trade-off is repair: a failed inverter board is a specialist part and older models can be hard to source, while a fixed-speed unit is simpler and almost any technician can work on it.

Does a used AC need regassing straight away?

Not if it holds a proper temperature split through a fifteen-minute test. Refrigerant is not consumed in normal use, so a system that needs gas has lost it somewhere, and a top-up without finding the leak only buys a season. Ask how recently the unit was gassed and how often, because a yearly refill is a leak being managed rather than repaired.

Can a split AC be moved to a new house without damage?

Yes, with a proper dismantle. The gas should be pumped down into the outdoor unit before the pipes are disconnected, worn flare joints remade rather than reused, and the copper kept from kinking. A rushed removal that vents the refrigerant and crimps the pipe is the usual reason a unit that worked in one house stops cooling in the next.

Do you buy non-working air conditioners?

Yes, we buy non-working air conditioners for parts at a reduced price. Just describe the fault honestly and we'll quote accordingly.

How fast do I get paid?

You're paid cash on the spot when we collect the item, after a quick inspection to confirm its condition.
