Used Kenwood washing machines in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Kenwood washing machine worth buying?
Kenwood's name in Pakistan was built on air conditioners and microwaves, and its washing machines are supported by that same single-brand dealer and service network rather than the open spares market. Used supply is weighted towards KWM-coded semi-automatic twin tubs. The practical upside is that you can ring a Kenwood service centre with the model code and ask about a part before you buy.
Mixed — partly assembled locally
Parts availability depends on the model line: locally assembled ranges are straightforward, imported ones less so. Worth confirming before you count on a repair.
Kenwood spares in Islamabad and Rawalpindi come through the brand's own service centres and dealer counters — the same network that supports its air conditioners and microwaves — and are ordered against the KWM code. Hoses, mains leads and inlet fittings are generic and available anywhere.

Checking a used Kenwood washing machine
These are specific to Kenwood. The general washing machines checks apply too and are on the washing machines page.
Find the KWM code
Kenwood washing machines carry KWM-prefixed model codes, with semi-automatics usually marked SA. The code is on the rating plate at the rear, and every Kenwood parts enquiry starts with it, so photograph it before the machine is moved back against a wall.
Ring the service centre
Kenwood support runs through its own centres — the same ones that handle its air conditioners and microwaves — so you can quote the KWM code and ask what a timer, door lock or board would cost before agreeing anything. With a commodity twin tub there is no such counter to ring.
Fill and leave standing
Fill the wash tub to the line and leave it ten minutes, then look underneath for drips around the shaft. A weeping seal puts water onto the motor below it, and the motor is one of the parts you would be ordering by code rather than buying over a counter.
Ask for service history
Ask what work the machine has had and look on the rear panel and inside the lid for a dated service sticker or job slip. A repair done outside the brand channel is not a problem in itself, but it means the parts fitted are unidentified and cannot be matched later.
What Kenwood washing machines are worth
- A Kenwood with its receipt, warranty card and service history is easier to price than the same machine without, because a buyer can ring the brand's own service centre with the code and learn what a likely repair costs before agreeing.
- Kenwood's standing here sits in cooling and kitchen appliances rather than laundry, so buyers judge a used washing machine on the machine in front of them and condition evidence moves the offer more than the badge does.
- Parts that only the branded channel supplies are priced as a wait as much as a cost, so an electronic fault on a Kenwood automatic pulls harder on value than a mechanical fault on a KWM twin tub.

General washing machines checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the washing machines page covers them in full.
Spin the empty drum
With the machine off, turn the drum through a full rotation by hand. It should move smoothly and quietly. A rumble, a grinding note or side-to-side play means worn drum bearings, and on most front loaders the tub has to come apart to reach them, which rarely makes sense on a used machine.
Run a cycle with water
Ask for a rinse-and-spin with the machine actually filling. Watch that it takes water at a reasonable rate, drains fully, and reaches full spin without walking across the floor. Slow filling is usually a clogged inlet filter; refusing to spin with a wet load is often a worn belt, coupler or motor.
Fold back the door seal
On a front loader, peel the rubber boot back all the way round. Black mould in the folds is cleanable. Tears, splits or a seal that has been patched with adhesive are not, and a compromised boot leaks onto the floor at every wash.
Test the spinner separately
On a semi-automatic, the spin tub has its own motor and a lid interlock. Load it with a wet cloth and run it. Heavy vibration, a screech at start-up, or a spinner that keeps turning with the lid open are all faults, and the last one is a safety problem rather than an inconvenience.
Open the pump filter
Undo the filter at the front and look at what comes out. Grit and hair are normal. A cracked filter housing, or a drain hose with a taped repair, tells you the machine has been leaking, and water stains under the base panel are worth more than any verbal assurance.
Step through the programmes
Select each programme and confirm the machine changes what it actually does, not just what the display shows. An error code that clears when the machine is unplugged and returns mid-cycle points at the control board, which is the second expensive repair after bearings.
