Used Super Asia shop & restaurant equipment in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Is a used Super Asia shop & restaurant equipment worth buying?

Super Asia is made in Gujrat, where much of Pakistan's small-appliance manufacture sits, and it turns up in laundries, hostel messes and shop fronts rather than in kitchens: twin-tub washers, spin dryers, water dispensers and room coolers. Everything on them is mechanical — timer, capacitor, belt, motor — and the pattern parts are made in the same district, so any electrician can keep one running.

Made or assembled in Pakistan

Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.

Timers, capacitors, belts, pulsators, taps, cooler pumps and pads are locally made and sold across the Rawalpindi and Islamabad electrical markets, so nothing on these machines waits on an order. Bearings and shafts are stocked too; it is the labour to split the tub and fit them that makes that one repair uneconomic on an older machine.

Checking a used Super Asia shop & restaurant equipment

These are specific to Super Asia. The general shop & restaurant equipment checks apply too and are on the shop & restaurant equipment page.

Turn the basket first

A laundry or hostel machine does in a year what a household one does in several, and the spin bearing is where that is recorded. Turn the basket by hand with the machine off: grinding, or a rim that wobbles as it turns, means bearing or shaft — and on a Gujrat-built machine the part is cheap while the labour to fit it is not.

Look for a rewind

On locally built machines like these a burnt motor is rewound rather than replaced, and the work shows as fresh varnish, new sleeving and tape where the windings enter. A rewound motor is normal here and not a reason to walk away, but it is somebody's workmanship rather than the factory's and is valued as such.

Check the dispenser's back

On a water dispenser, look at the rear before assuming a cooling fault: a compressor model has a condenser grille and a refrigerant named on the plate, while a thermoelectric one has neither and only takes the edge off the water by design. Super Asia sells both, and the second is constantly reported faulty when it is working normally.

Run the cooler pump

On a room cooler, run the pump on its own before the fan. A blocked or scaled pump and hardened pads are cheap and expected; a body gone brittle after summers on a shop front is not, because a cracked tank leaks onto the shop floor and cannot be sealed reliably.

What Super Asia shop & restaurant equipment are worth

  • Because the parts are made in the same district as the machines, almost nothing on a Super Asia is a write-off except a worn spin bearing or a cracked body, which keeps working units saleable well past the age at which other makes stop being worth repairing.
  • Declared duty separates two machines of the same age: a laundry or hostel history changes the assessment more than the year on the plate does.
  • A washer and spin dryer offered as a pair place faster than either alone, because a laundry buyer is replacing a working line rather than a single machine.
  • A rewound motor is accepted in this market but valued below an original one, since the winding is a workshop's work rather than the factory's and nobody can see how it was done.

General shop & restaurant equipment checks

These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the shop & restaurant equipment page covers them in full.

Watch the chiller cycle off

A bottle cooler or display chiller that has been running for an hour should reach its set temperature and then switch the compressor off for a spell. A compressor that never stops is fighting low gas, a blocked condenser or a dead thermostat, and you can hear the difference from across the shop.

Test door seals with paper

Close the door on a slip of paper and pull it out. If it slides free with no drag, the magnetic gasket has hardened and warm air is being drawn in all day. Gaskets can be replaced, but a perished one usually comes with ice built up on the evaporator and a compressor that has been overworking for months.

Try a magnet on steelwork

Much prep furniture here is fabricated locally, so the sheet grade matters more than any badge. A fridge magnet grips thin 430-grade sheet firmly and barely holds on 304, which resists pitting far better around sinks and salt. Then look underneath at the legs, where mopping water rusts a table from the floor upwards.

Light every burner

On a commercial range, griddle or tandoor, each burner should light from its pilot or neighbour and hold a steady blue flame with no yellow tips. Lazy yellow flames and soot on the pan bottoms point at blocked jets, or jets sized for a different gas pressure. Check that the control valves turn smoothly rather than grinding.

Check the extraction canopy

Pull the baffle filters out and see that they are all there and can still be washed rather than being clogged solid with hardened grease. Switch the fan on and hold a tissue flat against the filter opening; the draw should hold it in place. Missing filters, a fan that hums without pulling, or grease weeping back out of the ductwork mean a fire risk and a deep clean before the kitchen can open.

Run the mixer through speeds

A spiral or planetary mixer should change speed without a knock from the gearbox and should not walk across the floor on its feet. On a fryer, check that the element and thermostat probe lift clear for cleaning, and that baskets, lid and drain tap are all present, since they are model specific and awkward to source separately.

Super Asia shop & restaurant equipment — questions

Is a used Super Asia washer worth buying for a small laundry?

For light commercial work, often yes, because the timer, capacitor, belt and motor are Gujrat-made parts any electrician can change and none of them waits on an order. The limit is the spin bearing: laundry duty wears it far faster than home use, and it is the one repair whose labour outruns an older machine. Turn the basket by hand before anything else.

Why does my Super Asia water dispenser cool so weakly?

Check which type it is before assuming a fault. Super Asia sells compressor dispensers, which have a condenser grille and a refrigerant named on the rear plate, and thermoelectric ones, which have neither and only take the edge off the water by design. A shop front also draws water faster than either type can recover, so a lunchtime queue will empty the cold tank whatever the machine.
