Used Haier shop & restaurant equipment in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Is a used Haier shop & restaurant equipment worth buying?

Haier assembles in Pakistan and supports its range through dealers, and for a used shop cabinet one question settles most of the rest: what sits on the compressor terminals. A relay and overload capsule means a conventional machine any refrigeration technician can work on. A boxed electronic driver means an inverter — quieter in a small shop, but dependent on a board that comes through the dealer.

Made or assembled in Pakistan

Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.

Haier supports its range through dealers in both cities, so compressors, gaskets and thermostats can be ordered against the model code. Inverter driver boards are model-specific and normally come through that dealer route rather than the open market, which adds waiting time to the one fault a market technician cannot improvise around.

Checking a used Haier shop & restaurant equipment

These are specific to Haier. The general shop & restaurant equipment checks apply too and are on the shop & restaurant equipment page.

Look at the terminals

Pull the rear cover: a relay and overload capsule clipped to the compressor terminals is a conventional machine, while a boxed electronic driver wired to it is an inverter. If you cannot get behind the cabinet, listen instead — a conventional compressor starts with an audible relay click and runs at one speed, an inverter ramps up and down without it.

Photograph the rating plate

Haier parts are quoted against the model code and serial on the plate, not against a description of the cabinet. Boards and gaskets in particular are model-specific, so that photograph is what turns "it needs a board" into a quote and a waiting time.

Ask about the supply

If it is an inverter cabinet, ask whether the shop ran it through a stabiliser and whether the driver board has ever been changed. Electronics are what voltage swings reach first, and a board already replaced once says something about the supply where the cabinet has been living.

Test both modes

Some Haier chest cabinets are sold as convertible freezer-or-cooler machines with a mode switch. If yours has one, run both settings: a cabinet left in cooler mode for years has never been proved at freezer temperature, and the switch and its sensor are a fault in their own right.

What Haier shop & restaurant equipment are worth

  • Local assembly and dealer coverage keep Haier repairable, which supports what a used one is worth against imported commercial refrigeration of similar age.
  • A proved, working inverter cabinet interests more buyers than a conventional one, while an unproved one is worth less than a plain thermostat machine, because the board is the single part nobody can price on sight.
  • Parts follow the plate: a cabinet whose model code and serial are still legible can be quoted for, and one whose plate has been scrubbed clean cannot.

General shop & restaurant equipment checks

These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the shop & restaurant equipment page covers them in full.

Watch the chiller cycle off

A bottle cooler or display chiller that has been running for an hour should reach its set temperature and then switch the compressor off for a spell. A compressor that never stops is fighting low gas, a blocked condenser or a dead thermostat, and you can hear the difference from across the shop.

Test door seals with paper

Close the door on a slip of paper and pull it out. If it slides free with no drag, the magnetic gasket has hardened and warm air is being drawn in all day. Gaskets can be replaced, but a perished one usually comes with ice built up on the evaporator and a compressor that has been overworking for months.

Try a magnet on steelwork

Much prep furniture here is fabricated locally, so the sheet grade matters more than any badge. A fridge magnet grips thin 430-grade sheet firmly and barely holds on 304, which resists pitting far better around sinks and salt. Then look underneath at the legs, where mopping water rusts a table from the floor upwards.

Light every burner

On a commercial range, griddle or tandoor, each burner should light from its pilot or neighbour and hold a steady blue flame with no yellow tips. Lazy yellow flames and soot on the pan bottoms point at blocked jets, or jets sized for a different gas pressure. Check that the control valves turn smoothly rather than grinding.

Check the extraction canopy

Pull the baffle filters out and see that they are all there and can still be washed rather than being clogged solid with hardened grease. Switch the fan on and hold a tissue flat against the filter opening; the draw should hold it in place. Missing filters, a fan that hums without pulling, or grease weeping back out of the ductwork mean a fire risk and a deep clean before the kitchen can open.

Run the mixer through speeds

A spiral or planetary mixer should change speed without a knock from the gearbox and should not walk across the floor on its feet. On a fryer, check that the element and thermostat probe lift clear for cleaning, and that baskets, lid and drain tap are all present, since they are model specific and awkward to source separately.

Haier shop & restaurant equipment — questions

Is a used Haier freezer or chiller a good buy for a shop?

It can be, and the deciding question is whether it is an inverter model. Look at the compressor terminals: a relay and overload capsule is a conventional machine that any refrigeration technician in either city can keep running. A boxed electronic driver is an inverter, quieter in a small shop but dependent on a model-specific board ordered through a Haier dealer.

How do I tell whether my Haier is an inverter model before selling it?

Read the compressor, not the badge. Behind the rear cover, a capsule-shaped relay and overload on the terminals means conventional; a boxed driver with a multi-pin lead means inverter. The model code on the plate confirms it, and the front decal usually says so as well. It matters because an inverter cabinet has to be seen working before a buyer will value the board inside it.
