Used Behringer books, music & hobbies in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Behringer books, music & hobbie worth buying?
Behringer is the budget end of the PA and home-studio market here, and used desks and cabinets come out of event setups, school halls and small studios that have moved on. It is imported, with no service network, but the construction is deliberately ordinary — bolt-in drivers of standard sizes, plug-in amplifier plates, common op-amps and pots — so a fault that would strand a boutique unit is usually within reach of a general electronics repairer.
Imported
Parts usually have to be imported or sourced from the grey market, so a repair takes longer and costs more — which matters more on an older unit than the build quality does.
Behringer is imported and has no service network in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, but almost nothing in these units is proprietary: standard-diameter drivers, common potentiometers, faders and op-amps, and amplifier plates that unbolt as a unit. General electronics repairers in both cities work on them with parts bought locally rather than ordered from abroad.
Checking a used Behringer books, music & hobbie
These are specific to Behringer. The general books, music & hobbies checks apply too and are on the books, music & hobbies page.
Read the model number
Behringer numbers its desks by what is inside: the leading digits track how many inputs it has, an FX suffix means an onboard effects processor and a USB suffix an audio interface. Each of those is a separate section that has to be proved on its own.
Prove the USB section
On a USB model, plug it into a laptop and confirm it appears as an audio device in both directions. The analogue desk can be faultless while the interface is dead, and the interface is usually the reason that model was chosen over the plain one.
Cycle the FX presets
On an FX model, step through the preset bank with the send up and listen on the effects return. The processor is its own board with its own return path, so it can be silent while every channel strip works perfectly.
Match the power supply
Small Xenyx desks take a barrel-plug wall adaptor, while larger frames use an external supply with a model-specific multi-pin connector. Establish which type this one needs and that the right supply is in the box, because the multi-pin sort is not a shelf item here.
Read the driver rating
On a Eurolive cabinet the grille unbolts and the driver's diameter, impedance and power rating are printed on the frame or magnet, which is how you confirm a blown speaker can be replaced with a standard part rather than an ordered-in assembly. On the powered models the amplifier plate unbolts separately, so run the cabinet up before judging the drivers.
What Behringer books, music & hobbies are worth
- Used Behringer competes directly with new Behringer, which is stocked everywhere here, so it holds value less well than professional gear whatever its condition.
- The paid-for sections set the price: a USB or FX desk with that section dead falls back towards the plain version of the same frame, because the analogue path underneath is the same one.
- Repairability puts a floor under a faulty unit, since a standard-diameter bolt-in driver or a plug-in amplifier plate can be swapped with generic parts and a dead speaker is a job rather than a write-off.

General books, music & hobbies checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the books, music & hobbies page covers them in full.
Check the edition page
On a textbook or exam preparation set, the edition is most of the value. Read the copyright page for the edition number and printing year, and check whether an online access code or disc that came with the book has already been redeemed, because a used code cannot be passed on.
Open the book flat
Hold it open at the middle and look along the spine. Glued paperbacks crack and start shedding pages in blocks. Fan the pages for loose sections, highlighter running through the whole text, silverfish holes, and the wavy edges that mean the book has been wet at some point.
Smell a stored box
Books kept in a damp store room or under a leaking roof smell musty, and the smell does not leave. Look at the closed page edges for the brown speckling of foxing and for grey-green mould. If one book in a box has it, treat the whole box as a single problem.
Hold discs to the light
Tilt a CD or DVD against a lamp and look for pin-holes or a bronze tinge creeping in from the edge, which means the reflective layer is lifting and the disc is finished. Concentric scratches read worse than radial ones. On cassettes, check the tape is wound evenly and not crinkled.
Count every game piece
Work through a board game or model kit against its piece list and rules sheet before agreeing anything. One missing pawn, die or rules leaflet turns a boxed game into a parts box when the title is out of production. Check the box corners, which is where storage damage shows first.
Run the motors and servos
On remote-control models, drones and motorised telescope mounts, fit a known-good battery and work every control: the motor should spin up without grinding or stalling, servos should answer at once and return to centre, and a mount should track smoothly rather than stepping. Refuse any pack that is swollen or leaking, and check the charger and connectors are present and matching.
