Used Interwood beds & bedroom furniture in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Interwood beds & bedroom furniture worth buying?
Interwood manufactures in Pakistan and sells bedroom furniture as sets — bed, wardrobe, dressing table — in engineered board finished either in real veneer or in laminate. Second-hand, that finish is the first thing to establish, because it decides whether marks on a headboard or a wardrobe door can be polished out or whether the panel has to be re-faced.
Made or assembled in Pakistan
Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.
Interwood manufactures here, and the working parts of its bedroom furniture — cup hinges, drawer runners, sliding-door rollers, handles, bolts — are standard sizes carried by hardware markets in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, so mechanical repairs are straightforward. A veneered or laminate-faced panel, or a matching wardrobe door, is a showroom order made against the range name.

Checking a used Interwood beds & bedroom furniture
These are specific to Interwood. The general beds & bedroom furniture checks apply too and are on the beds & bedroom furniture page.
Tell veneer from laminate
Sight along a long panel for a grain pattern that repeats at intervals and carries over the edge unbroken, which is laminate; real veneer shows joins where the leaves meet and no repeat. Veneer takes a re-polish, whereas a damaged laminate face has to be re-faced.
Roll the sliding doors
If the set includes a wardrobe with sliding doors, run each door end to end slowly. Judder, a drop at one end, or a catch at the same point every pass means worn rollers or a bent track, and rollers are a hardware-market swap while a bent track is replaced along the full run and re-aligned.
Check the hinge cup
Open a wardrobe or bedside door and look at the hinge. A full-size cup hinge in the standard 35 mm cup is what a locally made carcass like this takes, and every hardware market carries them, which is why a dropped or rubbing door is an adjustment or a cheap swap rather than a hunt.
Find the maker's label
Because Interwood makes its own furniture and sells it through its own showrooms, a range name is what lets a showroom say whether a matching door, drawer front or side table can still be ordered. Look inside a drawer, behind the headboard and on the base rail, and keep the original invoice.
What Interwood beds & bedroom furniture are worth
- The finish decides what a knock costs: a veneered panel goes back to a polisher, while the same damage on a laminate-faced panel of identical shape stays there unless the panel is re-faced.
- Mechanical wear barely moves the grade, because the cup hinges, drawer runners and sliding-door rollers used on locally made carcasses are standard sizes stocked in both cities.
- The wardrobe is what carries a set, since a bed and a dressing table can be lived with separately but a wardrobe cannot easily be matched afterwards, so a set that still has its wardrobe holds together better.
General beds & bedroom furniture checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the beds & bedroom furniture page covers them in full.
Rock the assembled frame
Stand at one corner of a made-up bed and push it side to side; a sound frame moves as one piece without a click. Play where the side rail bolts into the headboard usually means the fixing has torn out of the panel, which is a carpentry repair on solid wood and often terminal on particle board.
Pull the bed away from the wall
A bed stands undisturbed against a wall for years, so look at the back of the headboard, the two feet nearest the wall, and the underside of the base. Mud tracks running up from the skirting, pinholes, or a powdery line on the floor where the feet stand are deemak, and it will already be working its way towards the wardrobe.
Kneel on the middle of the base
Put your weight on the centre of the slatted base and watch what the slats do. They should stay seated with only slight give. Slats that bow sharply or jump out of their end caps, and a wide frame with no centre leg reaching the floor, both mean the base will hollow under a mattress and take the mattress down with it.
Lift the hydraulic storage base
On a storage bed, raise the base with one hand and let go halfway. It should hold where you leave it and come down slowly. A base that drops, or that has to be propped, has spent gas struts, and struts are replaced as a matched pair rather than singly.
Check the dressing mirror edges
View the mirror at a shallow angle against a light and follow its edges for black creep in the silvering, which spreads and cannot be reversed. Press the glass gently in its frame as well, because a mirror loose in its rebate rarely survives being carried down stairs.
Measure the inside rail width
Measure rail to rail and head to foot rather than trusting the words king or queen, because locally made frames vary. A frame whose internal size does not match a standard mattress narrows the number of people who can actually use it.
