Used Habitt beds & bedroom furniture in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Habitt beds & bedroom furniture worth buying?
Habitt's beds are made in Pakistan and sold boxed through its own stores, usually a board frame with a padded or rexine-faced headboard. Second-hand the frame and the trim age separately: the covering and the foam on a headboard are renewed from any Rawalpindi market by the metre, while the board and the joints it bolts through are what you are really grading.
Made or assembled in Pakistan
Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.
Habitt manufactures in Pakistan, and everything that wears on one of its beds — bolts, barrel nuts, drawer glides, foam, rexine and upholstery fabric — is bought by size or by the metre in Rawalpindi's hardware and upholstery markets, so a re-bolt or a re-cover is local work. A faced board panel in the same décor is the part that has to come through the store.

Checking a used Habitt beds & bedroom furniture
These are specific to Habitt. The general beds & bedroom furniture checks apply too and are on the beds & bedroom furniture page.
Check the rail fittings
Get under the frame at a corner and see what the side rail is held by. A bolt running into a barrel nut can be retightened as often as needed and replaced from any hardware shop, whereas a cam fitting pressed into the board edge is finished once it spins in its hole.
Find the centre support
Anything wider than a single needs a centre rail with at least one leg reaching the floor. Check that the leg is there and actually touches, because a leg left off or cut short is the usual reason a board bed dips in the middle while every corner joint still feels tight.
Feel the headboard's top edge
Rexine and fabric fail first along the top edge, where hands and hair rest. Peeling or cracking there is not a repair but a re-cover, and since the material is bought by the metre in Rawalpindi it counts as trim rather than damage.
Push the drawers fully home
Under-bed storage drawers run on small wheels or plastic glides straight on the floor, and on an uneven floor those wear flat on one side and begin to bind. Push each drawer right in and watch whether it drops or catches at the same point.
What Habitt beds & bedroom furniture are worth
- Trim is the cheap half of a locally made bed, because rexine, fabric and foam are sold by the metre here, so a shabby headboard costs less grade than its appearance suggests.
- The fitting type sets the ceiling: a frame bolted through with barrel nuts can be tightened back to solid indefinitely, while one relying on cam fittings in board edges cannot be recovered once those holes have spun out.
- Storage drawers add value only while they run, since the boxes are built into the rails and a binding or broken drawer is part of the frame's condition rather than an accessory that can simply be left out.
General beds & bedroom furniture checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the beds & bedroom furniture page covers them in full.
Rock the assembled frame
Stand at one corner of a made-up bed and push it side to side; a sound frame moves as one piece without a click. Play where the side rail bolts into the headboard usually means the fixing has torn out of the panel, which is a carpentry repair on solid wood and often terminal on particle board.
Pull the bed away from the wall
A bed stands undisturbed against a wall for years, so look at the back of the headboard, the two feet nearest the wall, and the underside of the base. Mud tracks running up from the skirting, pinholes, or a powdery line on the floor where the feet stand are deemak, and it will already be working its way towards the wardrobe.
Kneel on the middle of the base
Put your weight on the centre of the slatted base and watch what the slats do. They should stay seated with only slight give. Slats that bow sharply or jump out of their end caps, and a wide frame with no centre leg reaching the floor, both mean the base will hollow under a mattress and take the mattress down with it.
Lift the hydraulic storage base
On a storage bed, raise the base with one hand and let go halfway. It should hold where you leave it and come down slowly. A base that drops, or that has to be propped, has spent gas struts, and struts are replaced as a matched pair rather than singly.
Check the dressing mirror edges
View the mirror at a shallow angle against a light and follow its edges for black creep in the silvering, which spreads and cannot be reversed. Press the glass gently in its frame as well, because a mirror loose in its rebate rarely survives being carried down stairs.
Measure the inside rail width
Measure rail to rail and head to foot rather than trusting the words king or queen, because locally made frames vary. A frame whose internal size does not match a standard mattress narrows the number of people who can actually use it.
