Used CP Plus cctv & security systems in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used CP Plus cctv & security system worth buying?
CP Plus is an India-based badge on largely Dahua-derived hardware, and that is the useful fact about it: the analogue cameras speak HDCVI, the recorder menus follow Dahua's layout, and every device carries a CP- prefixed model code. Treat a used unit as Dahua-pattern hardware rather than an orphan brand and most compatibility questions answer themselves. The local dealer base is narrow, so plan replacements around what shops actually stock.
Imported
Parts usually have to be imported or sourced from the grey market, so a repair takes longer and costs more — which matters more on an older unit than the build quality does.
CP Plus reaches Pakistan by import rather than through a broad authorised network, so brackets, junction boxes, power supplies and BNC connectors are ordinary shelf items while a brand-matched camera usually is not. The Dahua lineage softens that: an HDCVI camera from a widely stocked brand fills the channel and the recorder carries on as before.

Checking a used CP Plus cctv & security system
These are specific to CP Plus. The general cctv & security systems checks apply too and are on the cctv & security systems page.
Open the OSD over coax
On a CP Plus or Dahua hybrid recorder, an HDCVI camera exposes its own menu through the recorder's coaxial control, so exposure, day-night and IR can be set from the DVR. If that menu opens, you are holding genuine HDCVI hardware rather than an AHD or TVI camera in a similar body.
Read the CP- model code
Every device carries a CP- prefix: CP-UVR for DVRs, CP-UNR for network recorders, CP-USC and CP-VAC for analogue cameras, CP-UNC for IP. The block tells you whether the camera needs a DVR channel or a network recorder before you plug anything in.
Check the recorder's clock
The Dahua-derived reset flow puts a QR code on the login screen and the code returned is tied to the device's own date, so a recorder with a flat clock battery and a wrong date cannot be recovered even with support. Have the seller log in and set your password on the day instead.
Confirm the app registration
P2P access runs through the brand's own mobile apps using the device serial from the label as the register code, and the device sits in one account at a time. Have it removed from the seller's account and added to yours before you leave.
What CP Plus cctv & security systems are worth
- HDCVI compatibility carries most of the value, because a camera that any Dahua or multi-standard recorder accepts can be sold to far more people than one that only works with its own badge.
- Recorders travel better than the cameras, since the Dahua-style interface is familiar to installers and a DVR will fill its channels with whatever HDCVI camera a local shop stocks.
- A locked recorder is worth little, because the reset code is generated against the device's own clock and issued through the brand's support channel rather than by a local dealer.
- IP models stand or fall on ONVIF rather than the brand's ecosystem, so a camera proven working on a third-party NVR is worth more than one only ever seen in the CP Plus app.

General cctv & security systems checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the cctv & security systems page covers them in full.
Watch the night picture
Cup a hand over the lens or view the feed in a darkened room. You should hear a faint click as the infrared cut filter moves and see the picture turn to clean monochrome; LEDs that never light, or a milky washed-out grey image, mean the IR array or the filter has failed and night footage will be useless.
Scroll back through playback
Ask to play back yesterday's recording from the recorder's own menu rather than only looking at live view. Smooth playback across several channels means the disk and the board are working; freezing, missing hours, or a recorder that shows live video but nothing recorded usually means the surveillance drive is failing.
Inspect the camera pigtail
Look at the short cable tail at the back of each camera where the connectors sit. Clean, dry connectors with the rubber boot intact are what you want; taped joints, green corrosion on BNC or RJ45 pins, or a tail chewed by rodents cause intermittent dropouts that get blamed on the camera itself.
Look inside the dome
Hold the camera up to the light and look through the dome cover for droplets, fogging, or a tide mark on the inside. Moisture inside the housing means the gasket has failed, and the board behind it will already be corroding even if today's picture still looks acceptable.
Log in as admin
Have the seller enter the recorder's admin password in front of you and open the settings menu. If they cannot, treat the unit as scrap: Hikvision and Dahua recorders need a reset code generated from the serial number and the device date, and older models may no longer be supported for that at all.
Match cameras to recorder
Establish whether the cameras are analogue HD (AHD, TVI or CVI) or IP, and whether the recorder has free channels of that same type. Cameras bought without a matching recorder, or IP cameras destined for an analogue DVR, cannot be connected at all without replacing the recorder.
