Used Haier air conditioners in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Haier air conditioner worth buying?
Haier's Pakistani operation sells at volume through its own outlets and the dealer network it partners with here, a good deal of it on instalment plans, so a used Haier often comes with paperwork attached — a card, a receipt, a dealer name. That matters more than it sounds: the HSU string and that card are what let a spares dealer price a repair before anyone opens the machine.
Made or assembled in Pakistan
Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.
Haier spares move through the independent trade in both cities as well as the brand's own service channel, so blowers, sensors, capacitors and remotes are ordinary counter items once you can give the HSU string. Salvaged boards from scrapped units also circulate here, which is worth asking about, since they come without cover.

Checking a used Haier air conditioner
These are specific to Haier. The general air conditioners checks apply too and are on the air conditioners page.
Read the whole HSU string
Haier splits carry an HSU-style code in which the digits give nominal capacity in thousands of BTU and the letters after them identify the line. Spares dealers order against the complete string, so photograph the plate rather than writing down the tonnage.
Ask for the dealer card
Haier sells here through its own outlets and a partner dealer network, and the warranty card names the outlet that sold the unit. That card is where any remaining cover is claimed, and on an instalment sale ask for the final receipt alongside it.
Ask what was fitted
There are enough Haier units in circulation here that salvaged boards and blowers from scrapped machines are part of the local parts trade. If this one has already been repaired, ask what was fitted and where it came from, because a salvaged inverter board carries no cover of its own.
What Haier air conditioners are worth
- A Haier is priced off its code: the HSU string tells a spares dealer the capacity and the line, so a repair can be quoted before the machine is seen, and a unit with a legible plate is argued over less.
- Units still traceable to the selling outlet hold their position, because any remaining compressor cover on a Haier is claimed through that outlet and lapses into nothing once the card is lost.
- A Haier already repaired with salvaged parts sits below an untouched one of the same age, since the fitted board carries no cover and the next fault has no fallback.

General air conditioners checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the air conditioners page covers them in full.
Measure the temperature split
Run the unit for fifteen minutes, then compare the air being drawn into the indoor grille with the air leaving the vent. A healthy split is obvious to the hand and clear on a thermometer. A narrow gap after a full cycle usually points at low refrigerant or a tired compressor, and both are expensive.
Watch the outdoor unit start
Stand at the outdoor unit as the compressor kicks in. It should start within a couple of minutes and settle into a steady hum. Starting and stopping every few minutes, or a hard mechanical knock at start-up, is a compressor or capacitor symptom rather than a quirk of the model.
Look for oil at joints
Refrigerant carries compressor oil, so a leak leaves a dark, oily film at the flare nuts and along the copper. A unit that cools today with oily joints will need gas again, and a refill without a leak repair does not hold for long.
Confirm inverter behaviour
An inverter compressor should slow down once the room reaches the set temperature instead of switching off outright. If the outdoor unit only ever runs flat out and then stops dead, either the unit is not the inverter model it is described as, or its control board has stopped modulating.
Check the drain runs clear
After the unit has been running a while, water should leave the drain pipe steadily and nowhere else. No water at all suggests a blocked line, and damp on the wall below the indoor unit means the condensate has found another route out, which shows up later as staining and mould.
Test the remote and supply
Cycle cooling, fan speed, swing and temperature, and confirm the unit obeys each command rather than merely lighting up the display. A missing remote is common and replaceable; a unit that responds to only some commands points at the control board. Ask what supply it was run on as well, since a split wants its own circuit and an isolator, and a stabiliser with scorched terminals says the voltage it lived with was rough.
