Used Kenwood refrigerators & freezers in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Kenwood refrigerators & freezer worth buying?
Kenwood built its name here in air conditioning and came to refrigerators later, so second-hand cabinets tend to be younger than the market average. Support runs through the company's own dealers rather than the independent spares trade, and the Kenwood sold in Pakistan is separate from the British kitchen brand and the Japanese audio one — part numbers from overseas sites will not match.
Mixed — partly assembled locally
Parts availability depends on the model line: locally assembled ranges are straightforward, imported ones less so. Worth confirming before you count on a repair.
Kenwood refrigerator spares in Islamabad and Rawalpindi come through the brand's own dealer and service network rather than the independent trade, so a door, shelf or gasket is an order placed against the full code. Generic work — regassing, relays, thermostats, capacitors — is the same as on any other fridge and any competent technician can do it.

Checking a used Kenwood refrigerators & freezer
These are specific to Kenwood. The general refrigerators & freezers checks apply too and are on the refrigerators & freezers page.
Quote the code locally
Take the full KRF-style code off the inside sticker and quote it to a Kenwood dealer here. The Kenwood on this cabinet is a separate operation from the British kitchen-appliance maker and the Japanese audio brand, so part numbers and diagrams from overseas Kenwood sites will not cross over.
Inspect the glass door
Kenwood leans heavily on glass-fronted and mirror-finish doors. Run a finger along the bottom edge and the corners for chips, then pull firmly on the handle — its fixings pass through the panel, so a handle that moves is a door problem rather than a loose screw.
Look behind the print
On a printed glass door, moisture that has worked in at the edge shows as a cloudy or discoloured patch behind the glass. It cannot be cleaned from the front, and the door is replaced as one part ordered from the dealer against the code.
Count the fittings
Shelves, bins, crisper covers and trays for these come from the dealer channel rather than the general market, so a missing one is an order and a wait. Count them against the cabinet rails and the door before agreeing anything.
What Kenwood refrigerators & freezers are worth
- Fittings come only from the dealer channel, so a Kenwood missing a shelf or a crisper cover is marked down harder than a locally made cabinet with the same gap, where the part is a market find.
- A chipped or clouded glass door caps the price whatever the cooling is like, because the door is not repaired — it is replaced whole, and through one channel only.
- Because these cabinets are young, buyers compare them with new ones rather than with other used fridges, and visible wear costs more against that comparison than it would on an older brand.

General refrigerators & freezers checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the refrigerators & freezers page covers them in full.
Do the door seal test
Close the door on a banknote and pull it out. The seal should grip along every edge, corners included. Anywhere the note slides free, the gasket has hardened or the door has dropped, and the compressor will run far longer than it should to hold temperature.
Listen to the compressor cycle
A healthy compressor starts with a quiet click from the relay and settles into a steady low hum. Clicking every few minutes without the hum settling means the relay or overload protector is tripping, and a loud metallic rattle from the compressor body itself is a sealed-system fault.
Feel the back panel
Once the unit has run for a while, the condenser at the back or along the sides of the cabinet should be warm, because that is the heat being pushed out of the box. A fridge that runs constantly yet stays cool all over has usually lost its gas.
Read the frost pattern
On a no-frost model, heavy ice on the rear panel or a solid block over the fan means the defrost heater or its timer has failed. On a direct-cool model some frost is normal, but ice thick enough to trap the shelves points to a door left ajar or a failed seal.
Check liner and shelving
Run a hand around the inner plastic liner, especially the base and the corners near the crisper. Cracks there let moisture into the insulation and are hard to repair. Missing shelves, crisper covers and door bins are replaceable on current models and awkward to find on older ones.
Look for rust at base
Rust bubbling along the bottom edge or around the hinge usually means water sat there for a long time. Surface rust on the skin is cosmetic. Rust that has gone through near the compressor bay means the cabinet was kept somewhere damp and the structure is going.
