Used Tesla Power generators, ups & solar in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Tesla Power generators, ups & solar worth buying?
Tesla Power is a trading badge, unconnected to the American car maker, and in this category it appears on lead-acid batteries — the dry and tubular types that sit under a UPS or a solar bank. Names like this cover both imported goods and locally made ones, so the badge itself tells you nothing about origin. The case does: read what is moulded and printed on it.
Mixed — partly assembled locally
Parts availability depends on the model line: locally assembled ranges are straightforward, imported ones less so. Worth confirming before you count on a repair.
A battery has no serviceable parts, and behind a trading badge there is no factory-side service scheme either: charging, load testing and exchange happen at whichever battery shop in Islamabad or Rawalpindi will take it, and they grade on the test rather than the label. Ask which dealer supplied it, since that is the only route to any warranty still running.

Checking a used Tesla Power generators, ups & solar
These are specific to Tesla Power. The general generators, ups & solar checks apply too and are on the generators, ups & solar page.
Establish sealed or flooded
Lift the label strip along the top. A row of vent caps means a flooded battery that can be topped up; a sealed lid with only a small vent means one that cannot, and a sealed type charged at a flooded setting gases off what it can never get back.
Ask the discharge rate
An amp-hour figure means nothing without the rate it was measured at, and the same battery reads higher at the twenty-hour rate than at the ten. UPS duty sits at the faster end, so compare two batteries at the same rate before treating them as equivalent.
Read the case mouldings
The badge is a printed label; the container and lid mouldings are not. Marks pressed into the plastic, the type code and any country of manufacture are what identify who actually made it, and therefore whether a like-for-like replacement exists.
Time it under load
Charge it fully, leave it to stand, then run the load you actually intend to run and time it to cut-off. That figure belongs to this particular battery rather than to its specification, which is the point with a badged unit.
What Tesla Power generators, ups & solar are worth
- Origin decides the parts story and with this badge origin is read off the case, so a battery whose mouldings and plate name a traceable maker can be matched to a datasheet, while one identified only by its label is judged on a timed run alone.
- Support runs through whichever importer or dealer brought the unit in, so an offer follows whether that dealer can still be named and is still trading.
- A sealed battery charged on a flooded setting cannot be brought back, because what it has gassed off cannot be replaced — so how it was charged weighs more than how old it looks.
General generators, ups & solar checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the generators, ups & solar page covers them in full.
Start it from cold
Ask that the generator has not been run that morning. A healthy engine catches within a few pulls, or on the first turn of the key, and settles to a steady note. Long cranking, a haze of unburnt petrol or blue smoke that will not clear after a minute points at worn rings or a carburettor that has been standing.
Run it under load
No-load running proves very little. Plug in something substantial, an iron or a heater, and listen. The engine should take the load with a brief dip and then hold. Lights that dim and brighten, or an engine hunting up and down, suggest a tired governor or a failing AVR.
Check the oil and smoke
Pull the dipstick before anything is started. Oil that is milky, thin or smells of petrol tells you more than any test run. Under load, black smoke is a fuelling problem and blue smoke is oil getting past the rings, and both are easier to spot before the engine is warm enough to hide them.
Inspect the battery bank
On a UPS or solar setup the batteries carry much of the value. Look for the manufacture date on the case, bulging sides, powdery corrosion at the terminals and low electrolyte in a tubular cell. A bank that charges full and then runs a couple of fans for minutes rather than hours is finished.
Watch the changeover
Switch off the main breaker with a fan and a light running. A sound inverter takes over without the fan stopping and without loud relay chatter. Note also whether it is a pure sine wave unit or a modified wave one, which makes fans and motors buzz and is wanted less.
Hold panels to the light
Look across a panel face at an angle. Cracked glass, hairline crazing across the cells, brown snail trails and bubbling of the plastic back sheet all mean output that will not come back. Check the junction box cover is sealed and the MC4 leads are not perished, and read the rating plate rather than trusting a quoted figure.
