Used Realme mobiles & tablets in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Is a used Realme mobiles & tablet worth buying?

Realme is assembled in Pakistan and sells four rungs under one badge — the C series, Narzo, the numbered series and GT — which look similar and are built differently underneath. The quickest way to tell where a handset sits is its charging: the fast-charge system, branded Dart and SuperDart on older models and SUPERVOOC on newer ones, is fitted to the upper rungs and not to the entry ones.

Made or assembled in Pakistan

Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.

Local assembly gives Realme service centres in both cities, and panels and batteries for the common C series and numbered models are ordinary jobs, with aftermarket panels in the Saddar market for the same handsets. Order against the RMX number in Settings, About phone rather than the marketing name, since one name covers several RMX variants — and buy charging cables that carry a printed current rating, because unmarked ones will not pass the full charge.

Checking a used Realme mobiles & tablet

These are specific to Realme. The general mobiles & tablets checks apply too and are on the mobiles & tablets page.

Watch the fast-charge handshake

Realme's fast charging is a handshake between adapter, cable and phone, so the lock screen should report the fast-charge state within seconds of plugging in its own set. Swap in an ordinary cable and it should drop back to plain charging — that is the system working rather than a fault.

Check the cable rating

The VOOC family moves its current over the cable itself, so a thin unmarked lead caps the rate even with the correct adapter. Look for the current rating printed on the plug or the lead, and treat a plain cable supplied with the phone as a substitution rather than the original.

Feel the back while charging

This system puts the charge conversion in the adapter to keep the handset cool, so the brick should warm and the phone should not. A Realme that gets uncomfortably hot at the back on its own charger points to a tired cell or a substituted adapter, and it is worth stopping the test there.

Match the rung to spec

The C and Narzo rungs are not built to the same specification as the numbered and GT ones, so confirm the features that rung is meant to have are present — the high refresh-rate option in display settings, both speakers firing, the charging behaviour above. A repaired handset can lose one of them quietly.

What Realme mobiles & tablets are worth

  • A complete charging set — the marked adapter and its rated cable — carries value with the phone, because without both it charges at ordinary speed and each is a separate purchase.
  • Value inside the range tracks the rung rather than the year, since a C series and a numbered series handset of the same age were built to different specifications and do not converge as they age.
  • A handset that runs hot on its own adapter holds value poorly, because the design deliberately puts the heat in the brick and warmth at the phone points back at the cell.

General mobiles & tablets checks

These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the mobiles & tablets page covers them in full.

Check the IMEI first

Dial *#06# to bring the IMEI up on screen, then check its status with PTA's DIRBS service before you look at anything else. A compliant IMEI keeps working on a local SIM; a non-compliant one loses service, and a set that is working today because it is inside a grace period will still stop. Match the number on screen against the box and the SIM tray.

Watch a full factory reset

Ask for a full factory reset in front of you, then set the phone up as far as the home screen. If it asks for the previous owner's Apple ID or the Google account it was last signed into, it is locked by Activation Lock or FRP, and no shop can remove that. Only the person who signed in can, and they must do it before you take the phone.

Read battery health and cycles

An iPhone reports maximum capacity and cycle count under Battery Health; on Android use the maker's own diagnostics app or service menu. Apple treats a battery as consumed once maximum capacity has fallen well down from new, and a high cycle count on a set described as lightly used is worth questioning. Then press gently on the back and around the screen edge: a lid lifting away from the frame means the cell has swollen and needs replacing now.

View white, then solid green

A full white image shows discolouration, shadowing and blotches. A solid green or mid-grey image reveals AMOLED burn-in of the status bar, navigation bar or keyboard outline. Watch for a thin vertical green or pink line, which is a known panel failure and needs the whole display. Then drag a finger across every part of the screen in a drawing app to find dead touch strips.

Test sensors and Face ID

Face recognition, the fingerprint reader, the earpiece, automatic brightness and the proximity sensor that blanks the screen during a call are all commonly killed by a cheap aftermarket panel. Make a real call and hold the phone to your ear. Any of these failing is a strong sign the display has been changed, whatever the seller says.

Test the port and cameras

Plug in a cable and move it about in the socket; charging that cuts in and out means lint packed in the port or a loose connector. Then take a photo and a short video on each rear lens and the front camera, checking autofocus locks and that the ultra-wide and telephoto are not just a crop. Hold the lens glass to a light to spot cracks that show as haze.

Realme mobiles & tablets — questions

How do I know a used Realme's fast charging still works?

Plug in the adapter and cable that came with it and watch the lock screen — it should report the fast-charge state, branded Dart or SuperDart on older models and SUPERVOOC on newer ones, within a few seconds. Then feel the back: the conversion happens in the adapter, so the brick should warm and the phone should not. Heat at the phone means the cell or the adapter.

Do all Realme phones fast charge?

No, and that is the main thing separating the rungs. The C series and Narzo entry models come with a modest adapter and charge at ordinary speed, while the numbered series and GT models carry the Dart, SuperDart or SUPERVOOC system and need both the marked adapter and a rated cable to reach it. Read the output printed on the brick rather than the line name.
