Used Infinix mobiles & tablets in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Is a used Infinix mobiles & tablet worth buying?

Infinix phones are assembled in Pakistan, which is why a used one behaves differently from an imported budget handset: local sets carry a Pakistani warranty and a route into the Transsion service network. The catch is variant sprawl — one marketing name such as Hot, Smart or Note can cover several hardware builds, and only the X-code in the settings tells you which one is in your hand.

Made or assembled in Pakistan

Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.

Infinix after-sales runs through Transsion's Carlcare centres in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, which also handle Tecno and itel, so displays, batteries and charging boards for the common Hot, Smart and Note models are ordinary jobs. Quote the X-code rather than the marketing name when ordering, because panels differ between builds sold under one name.

Checking a used Infinix mobiles & tablet

These are specific to Infinix. The general mobiles & tablets checks apply too and are on the mobiles & tablets page.

Read the X-code

Settings, About phone gives a model code beginning with X, such as X6831. Infinix sells more than one hardware build under a single marketing name, so the X-code is what firmware files, replacement panels and cases are actually listed against.

Match the build number

The build string under About phone should carry the same X-code as the model field. A mismatch means the handset has been flashed with another variant's firmware, which normally breaks over-the-air updates from that point on.

Do the dark-room panel test

Check what panel the model shipped with — the Note and Zero lines are generally AMOLED, the Hot and Smart rungs mostly LCD. On an AMOLED unit a black screen in a dark room should show no even grey glow; if it does, an LCD has been fitted in place of the original, and the high refresh-rate option is worth confirming at the same time.

Turn off extended RAM

Infinix advertises memory as a physical figure plus a virtual one, in the form of so much RAM plus so much again. Switch the extended or virtual memory option off in settings and read what remains — that is the memory the handset actually has.

Match the box and card

Locally assembled sets come with a Pakistani warranty card and a box whose IMEI matches the phone. Imported Infinix units of the same models circulate here as well and have no claim on the local service network, so match the numbers rather than assuming from the model name.

What Infinix mobiles & tablets are worth

  • A set that can show its X-code and match its box holds value better, because the buyer can see which of several builds sold under that name they are actually getting.
  • Local assembly holds value through service eligibility: the warranty card and matching box are what a service centre works from, and an imported set of the same model has no claim on it.
  • An AMOLED Note or Zero loses more value to a screen repair than an LCD Hot or Smart does, because a matching panel is a scarcer part than a generic LCD and the substitution is visible.
  • Memory advertised as a physical figure plus a virtual one does not survive inspection, so a handset offered on its box figure loses value the moment a buyer switches extended RAM off.

General mobiles & tablets checks

These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the mobiles & tablets page covers them in full.

Check the IMEI first

Dial *#06# to bring the IMEI up on screen, then check its status with PTA's DIRBS service before you look at anything else. A compliant IMEI keeps working on a local SIM; a non-compliant one loses service, and a set that is working today because it is inside a grace period will still stop. Match the number on screen against the box and the SIM tray.

Watch a full factory reset

Ask for a full factory reset in front of you, then set the phone up as far as the home screen. If it asks for the previous owner's Apple ID or the Google account it was last signed into, it is locked by Activation Lock or FRP, and no shop can remove that. Only the person who signed in can, and they must do it before you take the phone.

Read battery health and cycles

An iPhone reports maximum capacity and cycle count under Battery Health; on Android use the maker's own diagnostics app or service menu. Apple treats a battery as consumed once maximum capacity has fallen well down from new, and a high cycle count on a set described as lightly used is worth questioning. Then press gently on the back and around the screen edge: a lid lifting away from the frame means the cell has swollen and needs replacing now.

View white, then solid green

A full white image shows discolouration, shadowing and blotches. A solid green or mid-grey image reveals AMOLED burn-in of the status bar, navigation bar or keyboard outline. Watch for a thin vertical green or pink line, which is a known panel failure and needs the whole display. Then drag a finger across every part of the screen in a drawing app to find dead touch strips.

Test sensors and Face ID

Face recognition, the fingerprint reader, the earpiece, automatic brightness and the proximity sensor that blanks the screen during a call are all commonly killed by a cheap aftermarket panel. Make a real call and hold the phone to your ear. Any of these failing is a strong sign the display has been changed, whatever the seller says.

Test the port and cameras

Plug in a cable and move it about in the socket; charging that cuts in and out means lint packed in the port or a loose connector. Then take a photo and a short video on each rear lens and the front camera, checking autofocus locks and that the ultra-wide and telephoto are not just a crop. Hold the lens glass to a light to spot cracks that show as haze.

Infinix mobiles & tablets — questions

How do I tell a locally assembled Infinix from an imported one?

Start with the box: locally assembled sets are packed for this market, carry a Pakistani warranty card and have an IMEI on the box that matches the phone. Then check the IMEI on the PTA DIRBS system, because imported Infinix units of the same models circulate here too. The difference matters after the sale — only the local set has a claim on the Carlcare service network.

What is the X number on an Infinix?

It is the model code — something like X6831 — shown under Settings, About phone. Infinix sells several hardware builds under one marketing name, so the X-code, not the name on the box, is what firmware files, replacement panels and cases are listed against. Check that the same code appears in the build number as well; if it does not, the phone has been flashed with another variant's firmware.
