Used & new Kids & Nursery Furniture for sale in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Where can I buy used kids & nursery furniture in Islamabad?

Buying used makes particular sense for children's furniture, because the item is replaced on the child's timetable rather than at the end of its working life. Stock is graded New, Like New, Good Used or For Parts / Repair, so you can tell a barely used cot from one that has been through two children. Ask for photographs of joints, fittings and any mattress before delivery is arranged.

What to check before buying a used kids & nursery furniture

These are the checks that set the condition grade on anything we list — and the ones worth running yourself wherever you buy.

Measure the gaps between slats

On a cot, a standard drink can should not pass between two slats, and the spacing should be even the whole way round. Uneven gaps, a missing slat or one that has been glued back in mean the cot has already failed once.

Push the assembled bunk sideways

With the bunk standing, push the upper frame along its length and then across it, and do the same at a cot's corner posts with the side rail at its highest setting. These are the joints that carry a sleeping child. Sway with a click, or a gap opening at a post, is loosened knock-down fittings; a bolt that spins without biting means the hole is stripped and the post will not hold.

Lift the mattress base

Take the mattress out and lift the base board off its brackets. Check the metal brackets and screws that carry the base at each height setting for bending or rust, and look at the underside of the board for swelling or a tide mark left by liquid sitting there.

Check the mattress underneath

Cot mattresses take the worst of it. Stains, a sour smell or a hollow in the middle mean it should be replaced rather than reused, and a mattress that has been soaked usually tells you the board beneath it has swollen too.

Check the bunk guard rail

The guard rail on an upper bunk should sit well clear of the mattress top and be bolted rather than slotted into place. Rock the ladder in its brackets as well: rungs that turn in their sockets and hook-on ladders with worn hooks are the parts that fail first.

Count the fittings

Flat-pack cots, bunks and study desks are held together by model-specific bolts and barrel nuts. Count them against the holes and ask for the Allen key and instruction sheet. On a discontinued model, missing fittings mean matching threads by hand at a hardware shop.

Brands we see most

These are the kids & nursery furniture brands that come up most often in the Islamabad and Rawalpindi second-hand market. We trade others too — this is what typically turns up, not a list of what is in stock today.

Buying used kids & nursery furniture — frequently asked questions

Is a second-hand cot safe to use?

The frame is the part you can check and the mattress is the part you should plan to replace. Look for slats evenly spaced with none missing or re-glued, height brackets that lock positively on both sides, and no cracks around the bolt holes. A cot reassembled with the wrong screws, or with wood glue holding a slat, is not worth the risk.

Should I dismantle a bunk bed before it is collected?

Most bunk beds are knock-down and separate into two frames, four rails and a ladder. If you take it apart, put every bolt, barrel nut and Allen key into one bag and tape it to a rail, and mark which rail came from which end, because drilled rails are usually handed. Those holes match that model's own bolts, so a missing bag lowers what an otherwise sound bunk is worth.

Do themed or painted children's beds sell as well as plain ones?

They sell more slowly, because a car-shaped or cartoon-printed bed suits one child at one age, while a plain toddler bed or a wooden bunk suits any household. Painted finishes also show every knock and are awkward to touch up to match. If a themed piece is otherwise sound, its condition and completeness still matter more than the paintwork.
