Used Life Fitness gym & fitness equipment in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Life Fitness gym & fitness equipment worth buying?
Life Fitness is imported commercial equipment, and most used units in Pakistan come out of gyms that closed or re-kitted rather than out of homes. The build is a different class from home machines — heavy frames, serviceable motors, replaceable decks — and it is designed to be stripped and repaired. The real considerations are electrical supply, floor space and the weight of moving it.
Imported
Parts usually have to be imported or sourced from the grey market, so a repair takes longer and costs more — which matters more on an older unit than the build quality does.
Life Fitness is imported and there is limited authorised service depth locally, so consoles, boards and drive motors normally have to be brought in. Mechanical consumables — belts, decks, bearings, bushings, grips — are far easier to satisfy with commercial-standard equivalents.

Checking a used Life Fitness gym & fitness equipment
These are specific to Life Fitness. The general gym & fitness equipment checks apply too and are on the gym & fitness equipment page.
Read the console's lifetime totals
Commercial Life Fitness consoles hold accumulated hours or distance in a service menu. That figure tells you far more about a machine than its paintwork, because ex-gym units can look tired and be lightly used, or the reverse.
Run it under a person's weight
Drive faults show under load, not on an empty belt. Walk and then run on it, listening for the motor labouring and watching for the belt hesitating as the foot lands.
Check the power requirement
Commercial cardio can be specified for supply arrangements a domestic room does not have. Confirm the plate rating and what the machine was plugged into at the gym before planning where it will live.
Look at deck and belt as a pair
These decks are designed to be flipped and replaced, which is the advantage of commercial kit — but the parts are imported. Establish whether the deck has already been flipped once.
Inspect Hammer Strength linkages
On plate-loaded strength machines the wear points are bushings, bearings and grips, all of which are generic sizes. Frame and welds effectively do not fail, so grade on the moving joints.
What Life Fitness gym & fitness equipment are worth
- Commercial-grade construction holds value above the category average because the machines are built to be rebuilt rather than replaced.
- Electronic faults cost more value here than mechanical ones, since control boards are imported and slow to source while bearings and bushings are not.
- Plate-loaded strength machines hold value better than the cardio, because nothing on them depends on an imported board.

General gym & fitness equipment checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the gym & fitness equipment page covers them in full.
Run the treadmill five minutes
Walk on it, then take it up to a running speed. The belt should keep pace with your footfall instead of hesitating each time you push off, and it should stay centred rather than creeping to one side. Slipping under load means a worn belt or slack drive belt, and a motor housing that smells hot after five minutes is nearing its end.
Feel under the belt edge
Slide a hand under the side of the running belt onto the deck. It should feel slick. A dry, rough or gritty deck is what kills treadmill motors and control boards, because the motor spends its life dragging the belt across friction. Some decks can be turned over or replaced, but only on machines that are still supported.
Cycle the incline through travel
Raise the incline to maximum and bring it back down. Grinding, stalling near the top, or a bang as it drops points at the lift actuator, which is specific to the model and often the part that finishes an otherwise sound machine. Check the console keys all respond and that the magnetic safety key is present, since many machines will not start without it.
Follow the weight-stack cable
Run your fingers along the whole cable and look at every pulley. Broken strands, a flattened section, or a pulley that has cut a groove into the cable mean replacement, and these cables are made to length for each machine. Lift the stack by hand: it should rise and fall smoothly on its guide rods without rocking or scraping.
Count the pins and adjustments
Bench ladders, seat posts, safety catches on a rack and weight-stack selector pins are the parts that go missing, and the equipment is unusable without them. Work every adjustment through its positions, and check that the rack's safety bars seat properly in their holes rather than being wedged in place.
Check plate bores and bars
Weight plates come with either a standard or an Olympic bore, and a set mixed between the two will not fit one bar. Count that the set is complete and that dumbbells come in matched pairs. Roll the barbell along a flat floor to see whether it is bent, and check that the sleeves still spin freely.
