Used American Fitness gym & fitness equipment in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used American Fitness gym & fitness equipment worth buying?
American Fitness is a Pakistani company selling imported equipment under its own name, with showrooms in the major cities. That matters second-hand: unlike a personally imported treadmill, there is a local outlet to ask about a belt, a console or a motor. The machines are consumer-grade, so deck and belt wear from heavy household use is the thing to establish before anything else.
Mixed — partly assembled locally
Parts availability depends on the model line: locally assembled ranges are straightforward, imported ones less so. Worth confirming before you count on a repair.
Because the brand is traded locally with its own showrooms, belts, decks, cables and consoles can be pursued through the dealer rather than imported cold — but the underlying machines are imported, so specific boards and motors can still mean a wait.

Checking a used American Fitness gym & fitness equipment
These are specific to American Fitness. The general gym & fitness equipment checks apply too and are on the gym & fitness equipment page.
Photograph the serial plate
The model and serial plate on the frame is what a local dealer needs to identify a belt, deck or console. Machines badged for the Pakistani market are not always identifiable from the model name alone.
Run the treadmill at walking and running speed
Slow speeds hide faults. At pace, listen for belt slip on step-down, a thump where the deck has worn through, and a motor note that rises and falls under load.
Lift the belt edge
Look underneath for a glazed shiny strip and grit. A deck that has never been lubricated wears the belt and then loads the motor, and it is the most common reason a home treadmill is being sold.
Pull each cable on strength kit
Cables fray at the swaged ends and inside the pulleys. Frames and stacks outlast everything, so cable and upholstery condition is what should set the grade.
What American Fitness gym & fitness equipment are worth
- Having a Pakistani dealer network behind the badge supports value, because a buyer can realistically pursue a belt, console or cable rather than importing one.
- Consumer-grade decks and motors mean heavy use shows quickly, so hours matter more here than on commercial equipment.
- Strength equipment holds value better than the cardio, since stacks and frames have almost nothing to fail.
General gym & fitness equipment checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the gym & fitness equipment page covers them in full.
Run the treadmill five minutes
Walk on it, then take it up to a running speed. The belt should keep pace with your footfall instead of hesitating each time you push off, and it should stay centred rather than creeping to one side. Slipping under load means a worn belt or slack drive belt, and a motor housing that smells hot after five minutes is nearing its end.
Feel under the belt edge
Slide a hand under the side of the running belt onto the deck. It should feel slick. A dry, rough or gritty deck is what kills treadmill motors and control boards, because the motor spends its life dragging the belt across friction. Some decks can be turned over or replaced, but only on machines that are still supported.
Cycle the incline through travel
Raise the incline to maximum and bring it back down. Grinding, stalling near the top, or a bang as it drops points at the lift actuator, which is specific to the model and often the part that finishes an otherwise sound machine. Check the console keys all respond and that the magnetic safety key is present, since many machines will not start without it.
Follow the weight-stack cable
Run your fingers along the whole cable and look at every pulley. Broken strands, a flattened section, or a pulley that has cut a groove into the cable mean replacement, and these cables are made to length for each machine. Lift the stack by hand: it should rise and fall smoothly on its guide rods without rocking or scraping.
Count the pins and adjustments
Bench ladders, seat posts, safety catches on a rack and weight-stack selector pins are the parts that go missing, and the equipment is unusable without them. Work every adjustment through its positions, and check that the rack's safety bars seat properly in their holes rather than being wedged in place.
Check plate bores and bars
Weight plates come with either a standard or an Olympic bore, and a set mixed between the two will not fit one bar. Count that the set is complete and that dumbbells come in matched pairs. Roll the barbell along a flat floor to see whether it is bent, and check that the sleeves still spin freely.
