Used & new Wardrobes & Storage for sale in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Where can I buy used wardrobes & storage in Islamabad?

A used wardrobe is judged on its carcass and its fittings rather than its finish: a box still square, with hanging rail, shelves, pins and any key present, keeps its use. Measure your doorway and the turn at the head of the stairs before committing to a full-height unit, since that measurement rules out more wardrobes than any fault does. A For Parts / Repair almirah is bought for doors and hardware.

What to check before buying a used wardrobes & storage

These are the checks that set the condition grade on anything we list — and the ones worth running yourself wherever you buy.

Slide each door end to end

A sliding door should travel the full width under light finger pressure and stay level at both ends. Grinding, or a door that lifts and rides out of its channel, means worn rollers or grit packed in the bottom track. Rollers are a standard replacement; a bent track is much less so.

Pull a hinged door's top corner

Open the door and pull gently outward at the top corner. If the hinge cup shifts inside the panel, the particle board around it has stripped and the door will drop again after any repair. A steel hinge plate screwed into solid wood takes the same test without moving.

Read the gaps around the doors

Stand back and look at the margins. Even gaps top and bottom mean the carcass is still square; a wedge-shaped gap that narrows towards one corner means the box has racked, usually from being dragged or moved without its back panel fixed on.

Press the back panel

Reach behind and push the hardboard back. That thin panel is what holds a wardrobe square, so a back that is torn, missing or hanging off its pins explains most racked carcasses and is worth checking before anything else.

Open drawers, turn the lock

Pull each drawer fully out on its runners; runners that sag or grate when the drawer is empty will fail once it holds clothes. On a steel almirah, ask for the key and turn the locker lock both ways, because a lost key means a locksmith or a drilled lock.

Check the base for damp and rust

Smell inside and run a hand along the bottom shelf and the lower back corners. A wardrobe that stood against an exterior wall picks up mildew in the board, and a steel almirah left on a wet floor rusts upward from the base, often underneath sound-looking paint.

Buying used wardrobes & storage — frequently asked questions

Can a built-in, fitted wardrobe be sold?

Usually not as a wardrobe. Fitted units are scribed to the wall and ceiling of one particular room, and they lose their sides, backs or trims coming out, so what remains is loose doors, shelves and hardware rather than a usable cupboard. Freestanding wardrobes and almirahs are the ones with a genuine second-hand market.

The sliding doors stick. Should I get that fixed first?

Clean the bottom track first and see what is left. A great deal of sliding-door trouble is grit and hair packed into the channel rather than worn parts, and it clears with a vacuum nozzle and a screwdriver. If the doors still grind after that, describe the fault rather than repairing it, because roller sets are model-specific and easy to buy wrongly.

Do steel almirahs sell second-hand in Islamabad?

Yes. Most are locally fabricated rather than branded, so there is no maker's name to go on and they are judged on the base and the lock: no rust creeping up from the floor, doors closing flush, hinges not dropped, and a key present for the internal locker. Repainting hides surface marks but not thin metal, so press along the bottom edge before deciding.
