Used Anex vacuum cleaners & home care in Islamabad & Rawalpindi
Is a used Anex vacuum cleaners & home care worth buying?
Anex is a Pakistani home-appliance brand with a wide dealer footprint across both cities, and its vacuums are drum-type wet-and-dry machines rather than the bagged canisters the Japanese brands left behind. Second-hand, one thing outweighs the rest: a fault that would strand an imported canister — a dead motor, a broken switch, a split hose — is a walk-in repair here.
Made or assembled in Pakistan
Spares are widely stocked locally and most technicians in the twin cities have worked on these, so common faults are usually economic to repair.
Anex works through its own service points alongside the ordinary electrical trade, and the internals of its vacuums — motor, switch, hose and foam filter — are standard sizes any repair shop in Rawalpindi or Islamabad will fit. Drum lids, tubes and floor heads are matched to the AG code and come from a dealer still carrying the range.
Checking a used Anex vacuum cleaners & home care
These are specific to Anex. The general vacuum cleaners & home care checks apply too and are on the vacuum cleaners & home care page.
Find the AG code
Anex codes its appliances with an AG number on a sticker on the body, and a dealer or service counter works from that code when matching a hose, a drum lid or a head. The range turns over, so an unreadable sticker turns ordering into guesswork.
Ask for card and invoice
Anex sells through dealers with a warranty behind it, which the imported machines in this category do not have. Whether any of it remains depends on when the unit was bought, so ask for the card and the dated invoice; they also confirm the model and the supplying dealer.
Run the float test
On a wet-and-dry drum the float should cut suction as the drum fills, so pour a little water in and watch it work. A stuck or missing float is how the motor on these machines gets wet, and a motor that has taken water is a lasting fault rather than a service item.
Test the blower outlet
These drums blow as well as suck, so fit the hose to the blower port and check both the port and its cap, which is a small moulding that goes missing. A blower side that pushes nothing points at a blockage or a tired motor as plainly as the suction side does.
What Anex vacuum cleaners & home care are worth
- Standard internals and a wide dealer footprint keep an Anex economically repairable, so a fault that would end an imported canister's life leaves this one worth fixing.
- Heads, tubes and the drum lid are matched to the AG code and the range turns over, so an older machine missing a fitting is harder to complete than its motor condition alone suggests.
- A card and dated invoice help the sale, because the buyer can see the machine's age and which dealer stands behind it rather than taking the seller's word.
- A drum vacuum whose motor has taken water sits at the bottom of the grade however well it runs on the day, since that damage carries on after the sale.

General vacuum cleaners & home care checks
These apply whatever the badge on the front says — the vacuum cleaners & home care page covers them in full.
Seal the hose end
With an empty bin or a fresh bag and a clean filter fitted, run the machine and close the hose end with your palm. A healthy vacuum pulls hard enough to grip the hand and the motor note rises sharply as it seals. A weak pull with clean filters points at a worn motor or an air leak at the lid gasket.
Flex the whole hose
Bend the hose along its full length while the machine runs and listen for a hiss, then check where it enters the cuffs at each end, which is where splits start. A hose is a model-specific part, so on a discontinued machine a split one is close to fatal rather than a minor repair.
Listen at the motor vents
A rising screech, a rattle, or sparking visible through the vents in a dim room means worn carbon brushes or bearings. A burnt smell from the exhaust after a few minutes is worse, because it usually means the machine has already been run hard with a blocked filter.
Check bag and filter format
Establish whether it takes a reusable cloth bag, disposable paper bags or a bagless bin, and whether the exhaust or HEPA filter is a common size. Grey, matted filters that will not wash clean are a small cost. A bag format nobody stocks any more is a permanent one and changes what the machine is worth.
Spin the brush roll
Turn the beater bar by hand: hair wound tight at the bearings and worn brush strips are ordinary wear but they decide how well it lifts from carpet. Then draw the cord fully out and let it rewind. A rewind that jams, or a cord with tape repairs or kinks near the entry, is both a fault and a safety point.
Test cordless machines fully
Charge a cordless or robot machine to full, run it at its highest setting and time it, because the battery is most of the value. Watch for a swollen pack or a charger that gets hot. On a robot, confirm the dock, side brush and wheels are present, that it charges and returns on its own, and that the underside sensors are unscratched.
