Used & new Home Decor & Lighting for sale in Islamabad & Rawalpindi

Where can I buy used home decor & lighting in Islamabad?

Lighting and decor divide into what can be repaired and what cannot. A holder, a flex or a switch is a small job; a discontinued glass shade, a re-silvered mirror or a failed LED board is not. The four published grades, New through For Parts / Repair, are there to say which side of that line a piece sits on. Delivery reaches Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

What to check before buying a used home decor & lighting

These are the checks that set the condition grade on anything we list — and the ones worth running yourself wherever you buy.

Power every lamp holder

Switch the fitting on before agreeing anything, and nudge the shade while it is lit. Steady light from each holder is what you want; a flicker, a buzz, or a holder that only works when pressed points at perished wiring or a burnt holder inside the arm.

Count shades and crystals

Match what is there against what the fitting was made with. On a discontinued chandelier or a run of wall lights, one missing glass shade usually cannot be matched, and a substitute in a slightly different shape is visible from across the room.

Check sealed LED fittings

Integrated LED panels and strips cannot be re-lamped. Look along the lit surface for dark segments and uneven colour, and ask whether the driver box has ever been changed. A failed LED board makes the whole fitting scrap rather than a repair.

Look behind the mirror

Black or cloudy patches creeping in from the edges mean the silvering is going, and that cannot be repaired, only re-glazed. Check the frame corners for splits and confirm the hanging cleat or D-rings are still fitted and tight.

Push the lamp base

Stand a table or floor lamp on a level surface and give it a light push. A base that rocks and settles is properly weighted; one that goes over was built light and will keep falling. Then look at how the shade is meant to sit: a shade made for a harp and finial will not clip onto a bulb, so a mismatched pair leaves the lamp with no usable shade at all.

Hold curtains to daylight

Sun-rot shows as a pale, weakened strip along the leading edge and at the heading, and it tears when handled. Count the hooks, rings or eyelets, and turn rugs over to check for stiff, crumbling backing and a damp storeroom smell.

Brands we see most

These are the home decor & lighting brands that come up most often in the Islamabad and Rawalpindi second-hand market. We trade others too — this is what typically turns up, not a list of what is in stock today.

Buying used home decor & lighting — frequently asked questions

Will an older light fitting work with the LED bulbs sold now?

In most cases yes, because retrofit LED lamps are made in the same bayonet and screw caps that older fittings use, so the holder itself is rarely the problem. Two things do catch people out: a dimmer made for filament bulbs will often make an LED lamp flicker or hum, and a fully enclosed shade traps heat around the lamp's driver and shortens its life.

Can curtains, rugs and mirrors go with the light fittings?

Yes. Curtains, rugs and mirrors are handled alongside the lighting, and clearing a room in one go is more practical than moving heavy mirrors and rolled rugs piecemeal. Keep curtain hooks, rings, tie-backs and pole brackets with the fabric, and tape mirror fixings to the back. A piece that arrives complete is graded on its condition rather than on what is missing.

Does decor with no brand name on it still sell?

Yes, because decor is judged on what it is made of rather than on who made it. Weight and feel do most of the work: cut lead crystal is heavy, cold to the touch and rings when flicked, while acrylic drops feel light and warm and mark with a fingernail. Solid brass shows yellow metal under a scratch where painted pot metal shows grey.
